Weavers Way Cooperative Association exists to provide commercial and community services for the greater good of its members and community, to champion the cooperative model and to strengthen the local economy. We currently operate two grocery stores, Urban Farms focused on production and education, within the city limits of Philadelphia, and a non-profit arm that leads a Marketplace program in Philadelphia schools with students who sell healthy snacks to their peers.
This June 2012, 400 leaders of Food Cooperatives from across the US will meet in Philadelphia for our annual conference the Consumer Cooperative Management Association (CCMA). We managed to get Marion Nestle as our Keynote and join us on local WHYY radio show, “Radio Times” to talk about Food Cooperatives on-air for an hour.
