The Flor de Nicaragua project began in November 2011 with the objective of strengthening women-owned businesses particularly in textiles, artisanry, and food production. It began working with women involved in the MyDEL (Women and Local Economic Development) project and with those working with Cospe and Chinantlan, eventually forming the network “La Flor de Nicaragua” with 95 members from throughout León and Chinandega. Today the women all use the same brand to market their products and the cooperative network operates with the goals of strengthening women-owned businesses, capacity-building, and promoting personal, family, and community development.
