The East Lansing Food Cooperative is a community-owned grocery store located in East Lansing, Michigan. It started in 1976 as a buying club for local people who wanted healthy and organic food. Soon after, it opened a cooperatively owned grocery storefront, and over the years, it has expanded into a store that is owned by over 4000 people in our community.
Our mission is to provide access to healthy foods in our community, while helping build the area economy by supporting our local growers, producers, and artisans. We believe in the importance of environmental sustainability, and seek to support social justice through the buying and selling of all-natural, organic, fairly traded foods and goods. This video offers a sampling of our friends and neighbors talking about why they think “Co-ops Rock!”
