On January 18, 1954, the Superintendence of the Solidarity Economy granted Legal Status 015 to the ECOPETROL Workers’ Cooperative, COOPETROL. Thus, 70 years ago, with the vision of 48 ECOPETROL workers, our Petrol Cooperative Fund COOPETROL was born. We are now celebrating seven decades of love for solidarity and mutual support. Today, we are more than 34,000 members who are part of a different world, living entrepreneurship from economic and social perspectives. Like our 48 founders, we strive to continue strengthening cooperativism as the preferred economic model for the people.

Our Strategic Planning for 2023-2026, through its seven strategic pillars: corporate governance, social and market base, operational quality, technological integration, risk management, human talent, and financial solidity. Also, operating based on five perspectives: Good Governance, Financial, Member, Internal Processes, Growth, and Learning, has allowed us to focus our efforts and encourage members to understand the solidarity model, its principles, and values. We recognize the importance of empowering members through knowledge, providing them and their families with solutions to their needs in terms of credit, savings, education, well-being, and integration, always under the institutional guidelines of the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA) and those established by the Superintendence of the Solidarity Economy through the Basic Accounting and Financial Circular.

COOPETROL, as a company that manages its economic resources under democratic control, assumes a direct responsibility for the well-being of its members and their families. In 2023, we had a greater social impact compared to the previous year, delivering 22,000 direct benefits represented in the development of PESEM through its six programs: Join the “C” (Cooperation), Join the “G” (Government), Well-Being for All, Coopetrolitos and Youth Leadership, Dissemination, Information, Communication and Electronics, and the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Lab, investing 1.517 billion pesos. Along with these benefits, we support our members by covering some financial management costs for acquiring our savings and credit portfolio, such as consultations with credit bureaus and an approximate revaluation of contributions by 300 million pesos.

Coopetrol is a cooperative for all Colombians, and those who wish to join are welcome to contribute to the fulfilment of projects. We are ready to offer a range of possibilities that will increasingly benefit members and their families.
